Santa Marta is paradise! I am not able to upload my pictures yet but I cannot wait to share what I have been waking up to everyday. As soon as I open up my eyes I am treated to a panorama of beach and sky. After breakfast I have been doing aerobics then hitting the beach. Being at a beach as beautiful as this one has provided me with clarity and peace of mind. Two things that were very much needed before I left Nashville. Today we are celebrating the 90th birthday of my boyfriend's grandmother.
Here is to long life and happiness!

Eniko and Missy
It is a busy weekend before I leave for Colombia! I am off to teach my models, a job which I absolutely adore!
I love to have my students reference videos like these to show them how to move in front of the camera. Something that looks so easy, but is not easy at all. One of my favorite photographers Glen Luchford makes beautiful videos of his shoots. Not to mention two of my favorite models star in this particular video.

"My mannequins sail forth like a brilliant armada, all sails flying, going forth to conquer the world in the cause of the new fashion" -Dior
This is possibly the most amazing exhibit I have ever seen!
I had the wonderful opportunity to preview the Golden Age of Couture exhibit today at the Frist. We were lucky enough to have V&A curator Claire Wilcox as our guide to the exhibit. Although, I have to say it was hard to focus, I had to catch my breath several times as I swooned over the garments (and undergarments) on display...simply divine!
In 1947 Dior created a new era of couture named "The New Look" by Bazaar editor-in-chief Carmel Snow.
His new approach to fashion changed the face of couture during the decade of 1947-1957.
Dior's postwar designs received mixed reviews mostly on the positive side because of his decadent designs and impeccable construction. It was at this time that the attitude towards dressing changed drastically. Women began adorning themselves in an elegant and excessive fashion.
Dior believed every woman should own a red dress, he believed it to be the most flattering color to the figure.
Perhaps the most stunning example of the "red dress" is the "Zemire". Curator Claire WIlcox happened upon this dress at an couture auction in Paris. She explained that because of it's poor alteration and slight damage the price was considerably lower for having been Dior couture. We praise Claire for her skillful eye, it is one of the most stunning pieces in the show! Another favorite of mine was the Dior "robe a danser" the most amazing printed silk organza I have ever seen!
I was most fascinated by the "Theatre de la Mode" an exhibition of tiny dolls created by couturiers with clothing constructed to exact scale. 200 dolls were showcased by set designers in the latest styles to raise war funds and to promote French Fashion during the hardships of the war.
The show ends with the most amazing Galliano dress! with the idea that couture still lives!!

Wrong Answer.
Recently, in the Gaslamp Magazine I was asked whose closet I would most like to raid? With questions like these I often find myself scrambling to think fast. My answer was Nicole Richie whose closet i would MOST DEFINITELY raid. However, after watching Annie last night, I take back my answer I would so much rather raid Ms. Hannigan's closet full of her amazing kimonos and sparkling jewelry, and lingerie as day wear!!
Whose closet would you like to raid???

Home Improvements.
As I promised, I am going to post the progress in our new home!
The style of our house is begging for West Elm furniture everywhere. While I am a huge fan of West Elm, I am not a huge fan of their prices. So in order to achieve the look for less, I have curated several pieces of retro furniture that West Elm has, or probably will eventually copy and put into production.
Last year, I scored these fabulous mid-century alumina-wicker chairs at the Goodwill on Charlotte Pk (the exact chairs were on the 2nd to last episode of True Blood in black!) Since I bought them, I have been racking my brain to find the perfect table to compliment them and at long last, I found the table yesterday at Southern thrift on Charlotte. Lately, I have been craving a backyard soiree, I think finding the table has increased the craving :)
oh and the moroccan lamp was found new from Salvation Army.

She's so fly.
Chloe Sevigny Resort 2011.
I have a great Chloe Sevigny story.
When I lived in NY I used to see Ms. Sevigny everywhere as we lived in the same neighborhood. One day while walking down St. Marks rocking my Betsey Johnson leopard print platforms and plaid romper; I saw this really hot blonde in cut off shorts crossing my path. I did a double take, turned around and as I was checking her out, Chloe herself was checking out my steez with a particular interest in my leopard platforms. This was a few months prior to her first collection with Opening Ceremony and it makes perfect sense because she integrates an awful lot of leopard print into her collections!! SHE ROCKS!

Parlour's Passups.
passed up this amazing zig zag sequin shell because it was missing a row of piping :(
wanted to buy this record mostly because the model on the cover is simply stunning. The songs, however, were not so stunning
the floral sequin number was amazing, but I have soooo many way more amazing glitter tops!!
