January Girl!
This lady is a not only a true talent, but a true gem. I am so happy to know her;
ladys and gents...
Name: Gabrielle Welch Saliba or just Gabby (twins name: JoJo)
Bianca 13 of Panty Raid and Co-Partner of Studio 1406-A Center for Movement and Creativity in East Nashville
Interest: Modern Art and Architecture, Dance History, Comedy,Puzzles and Tim Gunn:)
How long have you lived in Nashville? Five years in February. It was only suppose to be for a few months. I grew up in the surrounding areas of Gallatin and Murfreesboro before escaping for college in Ohio.
What do you love about Nashville? The ease, the beauty, and the line it treads between down home and downtown.
The thing I most appreciate about Nashville is that it has made me work for my entertainment. I hate to admit it, but when I lived in other major cities, I did not always embrace all the cultural resources that were so readily available.
When I finally got tired of focusing on what Nashville was not (Chicago,New York), I decided to stop taking it for granted. As you may know, there are a ton of things to do here if you keep you ear to the ground. I would recommend checking out Nashville Public Television's free PBS documentary series each month. Not only is it held at the beautiful Downtown Public Library, but there is a panel discussion afterwards. Right up my alley!
Oh, and the people here are great too!
What do you hate about Nashville? Lack of Mass Transit. Taking the bus and the El in Chicago was such a treat. Eavesdropping, meeting people, the music in the underground stops, all these things enhanced my world. Sure there's a bit of waiting involved some times, but I always had a book handy!
What is your favorite Nashville spot? Cheekwood.
Who is your favorite Nashvillian living or dead? Besides my beau Abbie, I would have to say the Jim and Jon Hager, the Hee Haw twins. Two very kind people that I swear knew everyone.

Oh closet, you are missed.
Ever since I moved back home, I have missed my old closet. I loved that closet for many reasons, it was big in comparison to my tiny manhattan shoe box of a closet. But mostly because it was A shaped, which is very significant to me for a couple reasons. Reason #1 my name starts with an A, and reason #2 because my dream is to live in an A frame house! I miss laying on my magic carpet with my magic cigarette and staring at all the insane patterns that make my wardrobe.
My boyfriend was convinced that my closet was haunted, I thought he was insane until one day, while he was sitting in the living room I heard a very distinct scream and he did not hear it at all...kind of freaky but, I aint afraid of no ghosts.
Before I left, Carmen and I took pictures to appreciate and remember giant closet #1
(I predict an even bigger one in my future)

The Beautiful Ones
Monday night was a riot! Carmen and I hit up the Grammy nominations party at the Vanderbilt Hotel. I found out my dad is nominated for a Grammy, Go Dad!!! After the party, we went to see The Virgins play where we ran into the most beautiful gals in Nashville!!! After the show we took the band and crew to a honky tonk and listened to some pickers. We sure hope we showed those Virgins a good time, though we are not sure...the night is still kind of fuzzy ;)

Uschi Obermaier
last night I watched "8 Miles High" the borderline cheesy, overall pretty rad biopic of Uschi Obermaier. What a story! Her modeling career began when a photographer for Twen magazine discovered her at a rock concert. Ousted by her parents, she lived on a commune,She broke Keith Richard's heart,She traveled the world in a bus. What this lady did not do, I don't know but I highly suggest you watch this movie...

English Only?
English-only movement, called also Official English movement by its supporters, refers to a political movement for the use only of the English language in public occasions through the establishing of English as the only official language in the United States. There have been various unrelated incarnations of the movement throughout American history.
This is not really fashion related, however, today Tennessee votes for or against English only. In a country founded by immigrants why should English be the only language...isn't this a contradiction of sorts?
