December Girl.
Picoli is one of my best gal pals! She works right across the counter from me at Chanel ooh la la!!!! I had an idea to re-create 60's photographer, Sam Haskins' "Cowboy Kate" because Picoli resembles her so much. here is the original and here is the modern day version. Photography by me!!
Introducing the platinum blonde bomb shell!!
Name: Picoli Rennie ( no really thats my real name, I was born with it )
Interests: Going to shows, reading, shooting guns >=), eating subway ( only vegetarian style ), exploring new places that I've never been, Oooooooooooo and random roadtrips ( when I have money )!!
How long have you lived in Nashville? Going on 7 years
What do you love about Nashville? Its not as big as a ' Big City ' but its big enough and yet its small enough that you run into people that you know all the time and it feels like home!!
What do you hate about Nashville? The Scene people!! I don't hate them I just wish that they would grow up and realize that there is more to life than what they consider to be COOL!!!
What is your favorite Nashville spot? I have lots! It all depends on how I feel. I love going to eat sushi at Wild Wasabi!! I love going to get coffee at Fido because I usually know at least one person there but I don't stay because you cant get any reading done for that very reason! I love going to the library to read because I like the feeling of being surrounded by books and its quiet!! Oh and I love Belcourt!! I think my favorite spot right now, with the way I am feeling would have to be Bongo Java because of their little cubby hole room that they have!!
Who is your favorite Nashvillian living or dead? Probably my most favorite Nashvillian would be Julie Russell ( my adopted catholic momma ) I love her dearly and she has been an amazing person to have in my life and a great influence to have!! If I were to choose one that was not with us anymore it would hands down be Johhny Cash!! I cried when he died!!:(

Fashion Boredom.
Recollections.
I don't know why, but lately I've been having recollections of high school. I guess it is due to the fact that my 10 year reunion is in June...YIKES! " One great memory is riding in my best friend's green Honda, listening to The Doors The Crystal Ship" and Grateful Dead "Touch of Grey" on repeat...we were cool without even knowing we were cool thats what cracks me up. These days when I listen to these songs I think of life carefree...

TIME OFF>>>>
I know I have been really shoddy at keeping up with the blog. The world of holiday retail is killing my free time. It will all be over soon, thats what I keep telling myself. I am taking a trip up to NYC next month to visit my sis and get some shit done! I am shooting for a cool indie mag whose name shall remain silent until it is completely confirmed that it is a go..
here is a sneak peak at some of the featured photographers work.

The Reason For the Season.
The days are winding down until Christmas, crunch time has begun, and it really shows. This holiday has been weird, tumultuous and somewhat sad for people I think. Given our current economic crisis it has made people very depressed and angry, mostly for the reason that around this time we are told to shop shop shop, and most of us can't. What we must understand is that when life as we know it has passed, we don't bring iphones, ipods, or computers with us. We don't need these things we desire them because we are told that we need them. We need to just chill and really realize the reason for the season. It is upsetting to me that Christmas has turned into a whirlwind of shopping madness and anger. I work in retail and I witness the worst of it trust me. People get really crazy around this time of year because they have a "list" to attend to and if their list is not fufilled then dissapointment occurs. Or if people don't have the money to provide a "good Christmas" it depresses them. Don't get me wrong I love giving presents and receiving presents,I just don't like when it feels forced. I love to give people gifts on my own time and agenda, when the feeling in my heart is right. I don't want to preach, but I'm going to! We need to remember what Christmas is all about. Christmas is believed to be the day Christ was born. Whether you are Christian or not the fundamentals of any faith, is LOVE, God is LOVE. So instead of wasting time buying presents to show our love we should find others ways to genuinely show our love for one another. The purpose of life is to give and receive love from mankind, this is, to me,what Christmas is about. So love your family, your companions love even people you don't know. This is the true reason for the season!
I don't know what made me think of this. Maybe because cold weather makes me want to cocoon for months. My sister and I went to the "Summer of Love" exhibit at the Whitney before I moved back home. We sat in this furniture wonder and Loved it. Despite the smell of socks it was quite relaxing!!

LOVE
If you know anything about me by now, you know that I am an absolute magazine fanatic. No seriously my room is full of them! I caught wind of a new magazine by the Katie Grand the editor for POP magazine called "LOVE" I LOVE it already!!
heres the scoop:
Katie Grand's new magazine has a name — Love — just as previously rumored. Nicholas Coleridge, managing director of Conde Nast UK, which is publishing the magazine, explains: "We came up with the name together. It's just a great name. It's a very positive name denoting a love of fashion and a love of style."
Love — which comes out late February, early March, will go for £5 and is already attracting a "very positive response" from advertisers. It's also rumored to have attracted Francesca Burns from her post as fashion editor at i-D — she's said to be joining Love as senior fashion editor-at-large.

Teenagers!
Recently, I read about a new book by Danielle Levitt titled "We are Experienced" The book is a series of images of teenagers in their everyday lives. On one of my own searches I came across this rare gem by Joseph Szabo entitled "Almost Grown" his book is also a series of teenagers in the 70's and 80's living in the fast lane!!
