Halcyon Bike Shop Opening!

Stores are popping up everywhere! Recession be damned. I must admit, I wanted this space as my own storefront, but I am glad it is being put to good use!

The Halcyon Bike Shop promises to infuse the 12 South neighborhood with some DIY funkiness and to serve as the headquarters for Nashville's two-wheeled revolution. Worker-owned and -operated, the Shop will sell and service new and used bicycles. Events begin with an "Alley Cat" bike race, in which competitors will pedal throughout the city, collecting foodstuffs for Second Harvest Food Bank. The race starts at Centennial Park and ends with a vegetarian feast at the Shop, featuring live music by JEFF, The Privates and Diarama. Stop in, say hello and join the resistance! Race begins at 2 p.m. Racers, bring a bag and $10 for food purchases.
