I came across this gal's artwork at Zeitgeist gallery and thought, I must know this lady. She has a wonderful very unique aesthetic that reminds me of some of my favorite illustrators namely Aubrey Beardsley and Erte!!
Name: Jacqueline Meeks
Interests: Art, Art-Making, Fashion, Magazines, Books, and School-I am in Graduate school for Public Administration and Non-Profit Management, with plans to start a nonprofit art space after graduation.
How long have you lived in Nashville? I have lived in Nashville for almost a year. I lived in Murfreesboro, while attending MTSU and getting my BFA in Studio Art, before I moved to Nashville.
What do you love about Nashville?
Thrift stores, Goodwill Outlet Store(Pay by Weight), proximity to Loretta Lynn's Dude Ranch, Zeitgeist Gallery in Hillsboro Village, Woodlands Vegetarian Indian Restaurant on West End, The Hermitage, Chik'n Fried Tofu at Whole Foods,
What do you hate about Nashville?
Few spaces available for artist studios, lack of 24 hour restaurants, rising cost of living, lack of nonprofit art spaces
What is your favorite Nashville spot? My house. I love that I share it with my boyfriend, Ryan, and my new pup, Maybe. My studio is half of the living room, and I spend soo much of my time in my house surrounded by knick-knacks and art paraphenalia that it really makes it the best spot in Nashville for me. I love being able to work on my art, take walks around the block, and sneaking in lots of trash t.v,
Who is your favorite Nashvillian living or dead?
Dolly Parton, she's not really from Nashville, but close. She is sooo fabulous! I love her hair, her makeup, her clothes, everything. She has been my fashion idol since I was tiny, watching her in 9 to 5. What a lady!
Dolly, I love you!

One for all, all for one:The Jumpsuit
Jumpsuits make me so happy! I remember my first jumpsuit when I was a kid, it was a zip up pajama jumpsuit and it was my super fave thing to wear! Needless to say, I was so excited to see so many gorgeous jumpsuits on the runway for spring, and even more excited when I found out The Phoenix Art Museum has currated an exhibition of jumpsuits throughout history! They have spotlighted the functionality and fashion of all in ones, from Skydiver suits to YSL and Norma Kamali suits. I am really sad that I may not get to see this exhibit,so fingers crossed it travels to a city near us.

Moon vs. Animal
Last night after the wonderful performance by the lovely ladies of Music City Burlesque, Carmen and I were talking over a cup of tea. We both agreed that Keith Moon and Animal from the Muppets are very much alike. Not only in style, very much so in character as well!! I thought this very deserving of a post!!

The GTO's
One of Frank Zappa's Los Angeles creations, I give to you the GTO's. The name stands for Girls Together Outrageously, and outrageous they were! Wherever these ladies went, their presence was definitely known! Escorting bands such as Led Zeppelin, the Who and so so many more they created fun for everyone. Members included the famous groupie Pamela Des Barres, Miss Sparky, Miss Christine, Miss Lucy, Miss Mercy and Miss Cynderella! Every one of them embodied their own flavor and eclectic style!!
Truly Inspirational beings!

Chairlift is a new band from Brooklyn, they scored the Ipod Nano commercial $$$ and are busy busy on tour. Why should we Nashvillites care? Well, not only are they really freakin good, the drummer Patrick Wimberly is a Nashville native and is a great pal from high school!! If you have not seen the Nano commercial, the song is truly amazing!!! I always knew that kid would go far!!!!!!!!!

Hedi Slimane Photography
Hedi Slimane just signed with Art + Commerce, an agency that represents photographers, stylists, hairstylists, and makeup artists. So he's evidently going to keep up the photography thing instead of the designing-clothes thing for some time. And oh, in case you missed it, he also "created an original furniture system for Comme des Garçons," according to the press release Art + Commerce just sent out.
The ex–Dior Homme designer has shot spreads for magazines like French Vogue, VMan, and Purple and released nine books, including one about London's music scene as Pete Doherty sees it. Following around Pete Doherty sounds a lot dirtier and scarier than designing clothes, but to each his own.
