Roxy Music

Lately I have been inspired by the genius that is Roxy Music! I am especially obsessed with their sexy album covers; all created by the band and their close friends. "Antony Price, hair stylist Keith Mainwaring, photographer Karl Stoecker, the group's "PR consultant" Simon Puxley (a former university friend of Mackay's) and Ferry's art school classmate Nicholas De Ville." (wikipedia)

I am doing a photo shoot today, I'll post pics when they are done.

Gasoline Glamour

If there is anything that you should know about me it is that I love anything that is one of a kind. Owning something that few people can get their hands on is so thrilling to me. I was psyched when I found this great jewelry design company called Gasoline Glamour in this months Metro Pop magazine. Every piece is one of a kind, I love their eclectic, whimsical, almost creepy jewelry. Necklaces, bauble rings and anyone want to rock and eye patch? I do.

The Hunger (1983)

I finally watched this film after a suggestion from a friend. I am not really one for horror films, but I figured since I am addicted to True Blood and Vampires are all the rage right now, why not watch a vintage vampire film? The cast is amazing! David Bowie, Susan Sarandon, Catherine Deneuve. Not only is the cast fantastic, the clothes are so current!! Fall is 1983 all over again.

Margaret Keane

Every time I have gone on a thrifting excursion this month, I have seen a Margaret Keane print in someone's cart. I have an obsession with these little doe eyed pictures. So needless to say, I was a tad bit jealous.

I did some Margaret Keane research and found out that they are making a film about her life starring Kate Hudson. How cool is that? here is the synopsis

Margaret Keane (Hudson), the painter whose distinctive creations featuring big-eyed children became one of art's first mass-market success stories in the 1950s. In the 1960s, Margaret Keane's artwork was sold under the name of her husband of the time, Walter Keane (Church), her second husband. Many reasons might be put forward to explain this, but it was also one of the reasons they divorced. Not wanting to relinquish the rights to the artwork, Walter and Margaret's divorce proceeding went all the way to Federal court. At the hearing, Margaret painted in front of the judge to prove her point. Walter declined to paint before the court, citing a sore shoulder. In 1965, the courts sided with her, enabling her to paint under her own name.

Supposed to be released sometime this year.

Little Miss Dynamite!

Brenda Lee, is my all time favorite country/rockabilly singer! The first concert I ever went to was her at the Grand Ole Opry when I was 6. I remember she was almost as tall as I was. My dad and her were great pals from back in the day, and she invited my family to her show!! She is the sweetest lady you will ever meet! You can imagine my excitement when I spotted the billboards all over town promoting her exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame!!

I cannot wait to learn more about her. She has been singing since the age of 5 and has not stopped yet!!
